What is a Spring Onion? Part of the Allium family and sometimes called a scallion. A more subtle flavour than regular onions and the whole spring onion can be used, making them ideal for garnish too. They can be eaten cooked or raw and in some cases are used as the quick alternative to onions. Simply grilled alone or chopped for a salad, they have become a kitchen must have. Originating from the far east they have spread across the world as a staple in many countries.
