Our original Woodtown Farm Shop is located just outside Bideford in North Devon, while our St John’s Ashford Garden Centre Farm Shop sits between Barnstaple and Braunton. Across both shops, you’ll find a fantastic selection of fresh West Country meat, seasonal vegetables, salads, fruit, dairy, deli items, cheese, fresh fish and much more.

Welcome to Heddens of Woodtown — traditional North Devon farm shops, proudly rooted in our family’s working farm at Woodtown, near Bideford.

We take pride in selling our own seasonal produce wherever possible. When something is out of season, or not something we grow ourselves, we always try to source from other local, independent farms and growers. Over 90% of everything we sell comes from the fantastic South West region.

For us, it’s not just about being local, it’s about quality. We carefully source and stock high-quality meat, vegetables, fruit and farm shop produce, helping our customers enjoy proper local food while supporting local farmers and producers.

Our original Woodtown Farm Shop is based on our family farm near Bideford. Here, our in-house butchers are always happy to help with advice on the best cuts, cooking ideas and what’s fresh that day.

You can also visit our farm shop at St John’s Ashford Garden Centre, conveniently located between Barnstaple and Braunton. This larger shop offers a full farm shop experience, including a butchery counter, deli counter, cheese counter, fresh fish counter, fruit, vegetables, potatoes and a wide range of local farm shop favourites.

Across both shops, you’ll find quality West Country meat, seasonal produce and a friendly team who are proud to talk about where our food comes from.

Our family run farm and farm shop in the heart of North Devon

The Hedden family have been farming in North Devon since before the second world war. Grandad, Walter Hedden, started a dairy farm in Weare Giffard and grew potatoes, delivering them on his little ½ ton van which held 10 bags while his wife Mary had a fruit and vegetable stall in Bideford Pannier Market.

Walter and Mary’s four sons carried on Walter’s legacy running the farm and supplying potatoes to businesses across North Devon.

The Hedden’s family have farmed Woodtown Farm for over 45 years and in 2018 made the decision to start offering our own produce as a delivery service. This quickly transformed into our traditional farm shop and butchery service which is foundation of our business.

Our whole ethos is local quality produce that we produce – Field to Fork! There is so much talk about eating healthy and the importance of well-being in our lives. We deliver this constantly through our exceptional produce that will enable you to eat healthy and stay well.
